Michel Gagne - Golden Age Character Animator

Michel Gagné was born in Québec, Canada. He studied animation at Sheridan College School of Visual Arts in Ontario, Canada and in 1985, began his highly successful artistic career.

Michel has lent his amazing talent to many animation companies, such as Don Bluth Animation Studios, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Studios, PIXAR, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and more. His work can be seen in over twenty animated films including "The Iron Giant", "Osmosis Jones" and "Ratatouille". Aside from his studio work, Michel is a determined entrepreneur who has created work in a wide range of media, from live performances to gallery exhibits. With video game veteran, Joe Olson, he created the critically acclaimed video game, "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet" which was released in 2011.

Michel is also active in the publishing world having written and illustrated several books and comics, such as "The Saga of Rex" and "Insanely Twisted Rabbits". His work has been published by DC Comics, Image Comics, Random House, Fantagraphics, as well as Michel's own imprint, Gagne International Press.

Boris Hiestand - Character Animator at Framestore

Growing up in The Netherlands, Boris became fascinated with animation after seeing ‘Snow While and the Seven Dwarfs’ at the age of five.

When Boris was 14, he met Borge Ring, who told him there were people out there who actually made a living drawing animated films. From then, Boris was hooked. Over the next 4 years he'd cycle 45 km each way from his house to Borge’s to soak up animation wisdom.

After finishing studying animation and film at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Boris moved to Madrid, where he started working as an animator on two feature films and several TV series. He has since lived and worked in Munich, Amsterdam, Bristol, Vancouver and Bangkok as an animator, storyboard artist, character designer and director on films, commercials, shorts and TV. Though a traditionally trained 2D animator first, Boris made the transition to CG and has as much fun wielding a mouse as a pencil.

His specialty now is feature character animation, and works at Framestore, London.

John Semper Jr. - Animation Screenwriter, Film Producer and Story Editor

John Semper Jr, is mostly known for his work as both producer and head writer on animated show "Spider-Man – The Animated Series," a hit action-adventure animated series for Fox Television, which aired from 1994 till 1997 and has been re-aired ever since till today.

John's extensive and extremely varied writing and story-editing (head writer) credits include multiple episodes of classic and well-known animated cartoons and shows such as "Scooby-Doo," "Smurfs," "The Jetsons" (Hanna-Barbera Productions); "My Little Pony," (Hasbro) "The Moondreamers," (Marvel Productions); "Duck Tales" (Disney); "Alvin and the Chipmunks" (NBC Productions); and so many others. John also produced, story-edited and wrote the animated "Fraggle Rock" series for Jim Henson Productions and he co-created the original, live-action "Dog City," also for Jim Henson.

Emmy-nominated, Harvard University graduate John Semper Jr. has been developing, writing and producing television and film for over twenty-five years, with a special emphasis on children’s television and animation. Early in his career, John had the pleasure of directing animation icon Walter Lantz in a live-action and animated clip compilation short film that Mr. Semper wrote for Universal Studios/Walter Lantz Productions. The film, entitled "Walter, Woody and the World of Animation," played for one year in a special exhibit devoted to Mr. Lantz on the Universal Studios Tour. It was then released by Universal for sale on videocassette and a copy of the film was donated by Mr. Lantz to the Smithsonian Institution.

Kyle Winkelman is a Character Animator who works at Industrial Light & Magic. Kyle has been involved in big blockbuster films, games and TV projects such as: Pacific Rim, G.I.Joe: Retaliation, BattleShip, Transformers, Dead Space, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, Stargate and many more.

Kyle was born in Alaska, USA. Growing up, Kyle spent his childhood moving every few years. Since he was always the new kid around, he never had many friends and was forced to entertain himself in the Alaska wilderness.

Starting his way in 3D Animation, Kyle's first professional work was for TKO Software, creating characters for cell-phone games. Later on, while working on game titles for for EA: Visceral, Kyle decided to pursue his childhood dream at Industrial Light & Magic.

Kiel Figgins - Character Animator at Digital Domain and a Freelance Animator

Kiel Figgins is a Freelance Character Animator who also works at Digital Domain. Kiel has been involved in big blockbuster features films such as ‘X-Men: First Class’, ‘Ender’s Game’, ’47 Ronin’, ‘Wrath of the Titans’ and many more.

Kiel was born in Maine, USA. Growing up, Kiel has moved around the states through Orlando, Dallas, San Francisco and finally ended up in L.A. Ever since drawing monsters and creatures, Flip Books and making simple animation with old computer software, Kiel found his way into the animation industry after watching the cinematic ending of the game, Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness.

Starting his way at TKO Software, Kiel slowly moved upstream, paving his way through different projects and companies, until finally securing a spot in Digital Domain, working as a character animator for various films and projects.
